the direction we’re headed

I was always in love with books like Sarah Plain and Tall, Little House on the Prairie, These is My Words, Gap Creek. I feel more connected to my ancestors who lived like this. I feel in awe of the human spirit and what we can accomplish ourselves to take care of ourselves. without a wal-mart.

we’ve been pushing towards an overall more sustainable, self reliant state in our home.

i’ll confess, it’s been a slow, learning process and i’m sure we could do even better than we are doing.

but we’ve got big plans for the garden this year and we’re bringing back the chickens to the yard this spring.

we’re going to be doing a lot more canning and wearing our clothes out completely rather than just dumping then when we get bored with them.

we made most of our christmas gifts this year.

and I just printed this up for our fridge —

I really want to be more {THIS}. More sustainable, more hardworking, more centered, more fulfilled…

I love my friend Amy’s blog – Progressive Pioneer – she’s downright inspiring to me.

So yeah. This is how I want to be.
