our tree

This Christmas is the first one where we’ve not done a live tree. But I can’t bring myself to get a pretend live tree – a, dare I say it? a FAKE tree.

We came up with a happy compromise – my mom had this in our garage just waiting for someday for her to use it. She’d picked it up at a yard sale somewhere along the lines in Utah and never had a place to put it.

But we did.

And she let us use it this year – and we LOVE it. It’s 7′ tall and totally aluminum except the base and the ‘trunk’.

We hung on it mostly plastic ball ornaments (got a toddler around) and campy vintage ornaments that were my grandma’s. I’ll admit, the little santa pictured here is kinda freaky. He scares me and I like it.
