i had the best time shooting the Howell family up at This Is The Place park the week of Spark.
I loved LOVED shooting them – they were laid back and into just being themselves. The raddest way for a family to be cause then you really truly capture who THEY are together.

my boy: aged six
Something about little kid drawing speaks to me so deeply. Its the honesty and the freedom and the complete rawness of the whole thing I think.
My little guy made this for a friend who moved away this past summer. I could wallpaper a room with these drawings.

on the planning/teaching side of Spark and trying to shoot it was much like being in the wedding party and being hired as the photographer as well. There was just no way I could capture anywhere near how amazing and beautiful every little detail that Margie, Rhonna and Liz decorated was or every exuberant moment....

this little family was in and could schedule a shoot for only one day while they were here.
unfortunately that day was one of the most uncomfortable days ever.
it was cold. it poured. it was windy.
but we made it work and they were amazing.
